Activity 1: Assess and select and key urban centres for implementation

The objective is to

• Assess at-least twenty Indian states towards their potential to implement energy conservation and efficiency measures in an urban context, current energy efficiency policy, and institutional set up for implementation, energy mix, pattern of energy use.

• Develop criteria and select 5 target states

• Identify two key urban centres for implementation of demonstration projects

• National Productivity Council signing Memorandum of Association with the States for capacity building.

• Establish Energy Conservation Action Teams in all five States

 
     
Status:


 

• A questionnaire have been prepared to assess the cooperation with State Designated Agencies (02/03/2006)

• A rating sheet to identify areas of needed support was approved (05/04/2006)

• Data of twelve State Designated Agencies has been collected and visits to 10 more states are expected to be concluded before end May, 2006. (05/04/2006)

• A draft report covering assessment of twenty one Indian states regarding their potential to implement energy conservation and efficiency measures, current energy efficiency policy, and institutional set up for implementation, energy mix, pattern of energy use has been completed. (14/06/2006)
