POWER RESEARCH INSTITUTE – BANGALORE The Energy Conservation & Development Division (CPRI) has conducted in-house energy conservation awareness programmes for the employees of CPRI during may 2005. The lecture programme was held on 27th May 2005 for Technicians, Sr. Assistants, Engineering Assistants, of the Institute at Swayambhu Memorial hall, CPRI, Bangalore. 25 delegates tool part in the lecture programme. Sh. B.H. Narayana, Additional Director, CPRI, had inaugurated the lecture programme. Sh. M.Siddarth Bhatt, Joint Director & Shri Nagaraja Rao V.N, Scientific Officer of this Division, delivered lecture through power point presentation highlighting the need for conserving power, Governments Endeavor in this regard and some salient methods and practices that are to be followed in our daily life to conserve power. Some tips were also given to save LPG consumption in the domestic activities. At the end of the lecture there was a good interactive session, during
which the doubts raised by the delegates were clarified and also some
suggestions came from the delegates to improve the lecture programme. |

CORPORATION LTD. – PANIPAT REFINERY During Oil and gas Conservation Fortnight (OGCF) at Panipat refinery a quiz for Township ladies as well as LPG clinic was organized in DPS junior wing ground to inculcate the awareness amongst the ladies of employees. Around 150 housewives took part in the written quiz and LPG programme. On the occasion, Mr.Rohit Bhardwaj, Executive Director; Panipat Refinery along with refinery officials was also present. The presentation was made on safety, precautions and proper handling of LPG burners and cylinder by Marketing Personnel. In the quiz also, out of 23 nos. of questions, there were six nos. of questions on LPG. |

| POWER GRID CORPORATION OF INDIA LIMITED
Following activities were undertaken by POWERGRID during the month of May 2005. A. Corporate Centre: B. Regions: (i) NRTS-I Delhi: RHQ, NRTS-I organized a painting competition on the theme of Energy Conservation at U.P.R.A.S. School, Vasant Vihar, New Delhi in which 75 students from classes I to XII participated under three different categories. During the prize distribution ceremony, POWERGRID officials, while addressing the gathering, dwelt upon energy conservation, alternative sources of energy and their economic utilization. The audience was sensitized about how we, in our day to day lives, knowingly or unknowingly indulge in misuse of energy and the need to curtail the same as energy production and energy conservation are the two sides of the same coin. The speakers also encouraged the audience to opt for energy efficient electrical gadgets/practices in their day to day lives. The audience comprising school students and teachers were exhorted to contribute to nation- building by spreading awareness about energy conservation to all those whom they come into contact with. Uttaranchal: POWERGRID’s Roorkee office organized a painting competition on the theme of Energy Conservation at Roorkee Govt. Inter College, in which 150 students took part in three different categories. Rajasthan: A painting competition on Energy Conservation was organised by Bassi S/s at St. Edmund’s School, Jaipur. 255 students prepared creative paintings on the theme of energy conservation. Uttar Pradesh: The Lucknow office of POWERGRID organised a painting competition on the theme of energy conservation at Modern Academy Inter College, Gomtee Nagar, Lucknow. 55 students took part in the competition. An insightful speech on energy conservation was delivered by Powergrid to the students prior to beginning of the competition. (ii) NRTS-II An awareness programme on energy conservation was organised for the sub-station engineers of NRTS-II at Jallandhar Substation. The importance of energy conservation and the various measures of energy conservation which can be applied in the sub-stations were emphasized. Presentations on Energy Conservation were given by POWERGRID representatives of Jallandhar, Moga,Hissar, Kishenpur and Wagoora groups. Detailed discussions were held on different techniques of energy conservation adopted by Jallandhar group which resulted in savings of Rs. 6 lacs annually on energy bill. At the end of the workshop, it was decided that every sub station of NRTS-II may adopt energy saving techniques and energy efficient electrical gadgets in their system to reduce their energy bill at least by 10%. |

| ITI LIMITED, MANKAPUR UNIT In-house workshop on Energy Conservation The ongoing activity in respect of Prime Minister of India launched ‘National Campaign on Energy Conservation_2005’ had been taken as starter with the constituted ‘Small Group Activity’ members of various section of plant area .25 employees were participated in the events. The various installation of the factory like Power distribution Network, Air-conditioning System, Central Compressed Air System, lighting and plant energy utilities were included for the Energy Efficiency Measures .The workshop was organized on dated 20th May’ 2005 in the Central Services Building. The general awareness among plant engineers have an impressive look
and practical approach, but the higher capacity of the system creates
critical issues for the adopting energy efficiency measures. The regular
monitoring of the system made possible in reduction in energy. Each member
agreed for review the practicing techniques for improvement. The workshop
session was organized in the valued presence of Deputy General Manager
(Plant), CM (HRD), CM (Central Services), Manager (Plant-AC), Manager
(Electrical) alongwith Energy Conservation Team. |
