Sub:  Draft Codes on Assessing Utility Equipment Performance under Mandatory Energy Audit
         under Energy Conservation Act – Request for comments and urgent action


Dear Friends,

       We are pleased to inform that the Indian Renewable Energy Development Agency (IREDA), in association with Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) had retained the services of M/s.Devki Energy Consultancy Pvt. Ltd., Vadodara to prepare 7 Draft Codes on the following equipment:

These Draft Codes once finalized are proposed to be included as a part of the manner of conduct of energy audit under the Energy Conservation Act, 2001. These Codes would assist Energy Auditors and Energy Managers in assessing the energy efficiency performance of the above equipment at site. Further, these Codes will also help in standardizing the process of conduct of energy audit. Once notified under the Regulation on “Manner of conduct of energy audit”, the Codes would be required to be followed-up and will become mandatory while conducting energy audit of such system under the Energy Conservation Act, 2001.

2. In view of the seriousness of the above issue, we would request that thorough examination should be made by the Energy Auditors and Energy Managers of the above Draft Codes so that complications at the later stages are avoided.
