Combined Heat & Power options for Paper Industry at Chennai on 15th February 2008 by
Mr. Thomas Schmitz, Advisor, CHP, GTZ - Presentation

CHP questionnaire
CHP questionnaire winners - Batch 1
We welcome the industries to submit the data as the submission date
is further extended upto 30th May 2008

CHP potential India is more than 9,000 MW!

With estimating the heat demand for certain industries in India, it was achieved to estimate a potential for CHP in India. For some sectors, data were not available to us; however, we identified a potential of more than 9,000 MW. Please see the table for further information and breakdown on the regarding sectors. However, it is not known how much of this has been realised yet.

CHP at a glance

Due to law of nature (read thermodynamics) in conventional thermal power generation much of the energy input has to be wasted. Combined Heat and Power (CHP) – also often named co-generation – where usable heat and power are generated simultaneously in a single process, can lead to reduce primary energy consumption up to 30% (and even above) as compared to generation of power and heat in separate systems. CHP in general can be applied where process heat is needed and demand can be synchronised with demand for power.

Workshops
Five - two day workshops on Procedures for determining and certifying Combined Heat and Power(CHP) systems at Mumbai, Bangalore, Chennai, Kolkata, New Delhi
21st May to
05th June 2007
