Energy Management Cell - Functions

An Energy Management Cell is the process of implementing energy management through:
policy setting,
energy auditing,
behavioural change through awareness campaigns,
identifying and implementing technical and procedural solutions,
planning for future facilities and services and
review.

The objective of Energy Management Cell is :
1.
To carry out energy management studies, analysis, recommendations and implementations of useful studies for energy conservation.
2.
To accelerate the energy management activities in the Industry.
3.
Regular maintenance: From an energy perspective, regular maintenance is important because it can ensure that systems are operated as they were intended. Systems consume energy, and over time their efficiency may drop because of various factors. A decrease in efficiency results in an increase in consumption, therefore incorporating energy efficiency measures in maintenance activities can prevent excessive energy consumption.
4.
Conduct an Energy Audit: An energy audit is a systematic gathering and analysis of energy use information within a business. Once the data has been analysed the information can then be used to promote energy efficient practices in the areas of the business where they will prove to be most effective. Progress of any initiatives that are put in place can then be accurately monitored.
